I said, "Gee, you look like a 'big' version of Pete Rose." He replied: "That's because I am Pete Rose." Two weeks later we again ran into each other at the station, as Pete was hosting his own radio show. Ross Perot was running for president, and I was wearing a T-shirt showing Perot shaking hands with a space alien. Noticing the shirt, Pete asked, "Do you think he (Perot) has a chance? "I wouldn't bet on it," I responded. | | | | | | | | | | | | Originally a "studio cartoonist," It took me years to actually sit down and draw people live. That stems back to my very first "live" portrait caricature, in 1975. I was dating a very pretty girl who also happened to be on the heavy side, with a nicely rounded face. At my home, she asked me to draw her picture. I was in no mood to draw pictures. And, I had never attempted a "live" drawing before. So, I commenced to draw her. Unfortunately, I had run out of room on the paper, and could not get her all in. Worse, it was a piece of 14" x 22" poster board. I Never saw her again. And, I never attempted another live caricature until 1979, 4 years later. | | | | |
