Captain Cartoon was NOT thrown off the Titanic for scribbling on its bulkheads, contrary to what the Captain Cartoon Coloring Book says. In fact, the Captain is way too young to have been aboard that "unsinkable" ship, though many kids seem to believe that to be the case. There may be some confusion with Leonardo DiCaprio's portrayal of an artist in the three-hour Titanic movie. "I can understand where kids may get the two of us confused," says the Captain.

Captain Cartoon was never raised by a mermaid, though the Captain Cartoon Coloring Book implies this. In fact, the Captain once hooked a 350-lb mermaid on an overseas fishing trip way back when. He gracefully threw her back.

The Captain never actually befriended a "7-armed octopus named Lucky," and in fact, he encountered a giant octopus several decades ago and in the ensuing life and death struggle, wound up cutting off one of its tentacles. "He was one mighty 'unlucky' octopus," says the Captain.

The coloring book correctly portrays the Captain drawing shrunken heads at his first gig. "Growing up I was surrounded by lots of small-minded people", he says.

Captain Cartoon bought his first boat from the evil and crafty Davy Jones the Pirate. In a valiant effort to save the ship, Captain Cartoon circumvented the globe seeking help in repairing the vessel, encountering nothing but mines, carp and barracuda. He finally abandoned the ship in favor of his more stable drawing board on the docks.

HISTORY OF CAPTAIN CARTOON

He's not just another caricaturist. Captain Cartoon is a bona-fide comic strip veteran, political cartoonist, satirist, politician, art iustructor, art director, newspaper editor and humor magazine publisher! And he's been drawing cartoons for publication for over 40 years!

A self-taught artist, the Captain began drawing at the age of seven when a substitute teacher visited his 2nd grade class and informed all present that "eyes go in the middle of the head, not the top."

Captain Cartoon's works have been published by CAR-Toons magazine, the L.A. Times Syndicate, Tribune Media Services, Inc., appearing in the New York Daily News, Orange County Register, Minneapolis Star -- and even the Hong Kong English Daily newspaper as well as the Bangkok, Thailand Post. In 1994 the Captain appeared on the John & Leeza Show, presenting the entertainment show's hosts a personalized caricature. From 2000-2004 Captain Cartoon published the humor/satire Cracked magazine, though an unbroken series of shams and scams foisted upon him foiled that "courageous" effort.

The Captain's political cartoons -- and his advertising comic strips -- have made national headlines numerous times. Currently, the Captain's Gangbuster cartoon booklet is being distributed in three states. The Captain is now enjoying a new reputation as one of South Florida's premier caricature artists.
